It is with regret that we share the news of the passing of Dr Jon Harman, former Director of Seafish and former Chief Executive of Seafood Scotland.

Jon spent 12 years at Seafish, creating ground breaking initiatives to address problems in the seafood industry which have made a real and lasting difference. Jon came up with the idea of the Responsible fishing scheme after learning of fishermen’s desire to be recognised for what they did. He also improved the way Seafish engages with industry through the establishment of sector panels.

More recently Jon worked in Trade Relations at the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI).

Those who knew him told how he was a respected man who undertook his work with great passion, and one who will be deeply missed.
